Free Audiobooks: Fiction Or Reality?
Free audiobooks here, free audiobooks there; don’t buy into these trendy marketing schemes my father tells me. “Free audiobooks seldom really means free audiobooks” he says. There is always a hidden agenda behind the word free. People don’t just give things away, or do they?
Although, I respect Dad’s opinion, I decided to find out for myself. The free audiobooks slogans did sound too good to be true; but was I passing up an opportunity to acquire many audiobooks, I’ve always wanted to own, without paying a dime? Were these offers for free audiobooks reality or was I simply being scammed? I’ve never been so confused.
After some hours of thought and research I came across several web sites that sounded interesting. A Google search spurted out about 5,670 sites offering free audiobooks. With so many sites offering these recorded books online, it was difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff. But I think I was able to come up with some winners.
Dad was partly right. Many offers for free audiobooks were legitimate but they included monthly, annual, or lifetime membership fees. You pay for access to the site but downloads are free. The good part is that fees start out for as low as $2.95 for initial trial periods. That gives you time to decide if the site is worthwhile and if your free audiobooks are truly free.
